Once Harry is sorted into Gryffindor and sits at the table in the Great Hall, he looks over at Dumbledore who raises his gold goblet into the air in a small toast. Which film? Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone So, without further ado, here are 15 of the PROPER greatest Harry Potter moments… In fact, you’ll find only 1 moment from Philosopher’s Stone and none at all from Chamber of Secrets, simply because those movies were such literal adaptations of Rowling’s creations that there was little ingenuity involved in telling the story (although there was obviously a lot in terms of cinematography, casting, screenwriting adaptation etc.). They’re most definitely not a list of the most literal adaptations of the book narrative. Instead, these are the moments which matter most they’re the moments where the filmmakers and creative team behind the films – and the actors in front of the cameras – truly captured the spirit and subtext of the Harry Potter books, its settings, its story, and its characters. ![]() ![]() They’re also not just the BIG moments where all the serious ‘story-type stuff’ happens. These moments aren’t in the list because they were random, silly, outrageous, unexpected or anything stupid like that. So, in protest at this complete rubbish, I have decided to create my own list. You’re pretty much just doing a ‘cliff notes’ version of the movie series. ITV’s 50 Greatest Harry Potter Moments is total nonsense! You can’t have a list that big and have all the moments actually mean something.
